If you move north of the Northwest Highway, you are officially in North Dallas, one of the wealthier parts of the whole city. As the city has grown over the past decades, North Dallas moved from just north of Downtown Dallas to the northern outskirts of the city and nearby suburbs. As mentioned, North Dallas is one of the wealthiest areas of the city, and it is comprised of several different neighborhoods, such as Araglin Court, Hillcrest Forest, North Park, and Waterford, to name a few.
The University of Texas at Dallas, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M’s TAMU-Dallas, and several community college campuses are also near this side of town. If you’re a student and want to get both the city life and that college-town feel, North Dallas might be a perfect location for you.
The population of North Dallas is 40,259. Despite the college campuses around, the median age for the area is actually 45.1. Roughly 60% of the area population makes over $60,000, with 22% making over $200,000.
